Travelling safely to strength & hope
How Rides to Hope is helping women and children across the Greater Hobart region reach the services that change their lives.
Rides to Hope is proud to partner with Her Strength. Her Story. — a not-for-profit organisation supporting women and children with lived experience of domestic and family violence.
Many participants are required to attend court hearings, legal appointments, counselling sessions, medical appointments, and support programs across the Greater Hobart region. For these women, accessing safe and reliable transport is a critical barrier to recovery, safety, and independence.
Through our partnership, Rides to Hope provides subsidised trips to help women and children travel safely and with dignity to services and appointments.
Every ride prioritises discretion, safety and consistency — with a trauma-informed driver who has been screened face-to-face and holds Working with Children and Police Checks. Our goal is to ensure every woman feels supported, understood, and respected on their ride.

Butterflies & Boots Ball — Celebrating Resilience and Hope
The partnership extends beyond essential appointments. Rides to Hope proudly supported transport for women attending the annual Butterflies and Boots Ball — a special event celebrating resilience and hope. The evening provides women and teenage girls affected by family violence with a safe space to dress up, laugh, dance, and reclaim moments of happiness that trauma often takes away.
A nurturing event is also held earlier in the day, where gala attendees are invited to have their hair, make-up and nails done free of charge. Dresses are donated, with women able to select whichever one they felt most beautiful in.
Together, we're ensuring women and children can travel safely and with dignity — to the people, services and opportunities that help them move forward.
